    Job Description
    Description: Georgia Northwestern Technical College is seeking qualified applicants for a full time marketing media specialist. The marketing media specialist will be responsible for writing press releases, news articles, editorials, event notifications, and announcements.  This position will also be responsible for photography related to college events and media releases. The duties will also include uploading releases and photography to the college website. The ideal applicant for this position will possess excellent writing and communication skills, experience in photography, interpersonal skills and computer skills.  Some evening and weekend hours will be required. This position will require travel between the college’s nine counties of Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade, Floyd, Gordon, Murray, Polk, Walker, and Whitfield.
     
    Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, communications, or marketing. Prior experience in a news media or public relations environment.  At least 2 years experience in writing press releases or news articles, proofreading, and research; At least 2 years experience with professional photography. Knowledge of DSL cameras and equipment.  Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.  Ability to multi-task and work with others in a fast paced environment.  Computer proficiency, with Internet, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word.  Work schedule to include mornings, afternoons, and in some instances special events scheduled on evenings and weekends.
     
    Preferred Qualifications: At least five years experience in writing press releases or news articles, proofreading, and research; At least five years experience with professional photography and knowledge of DSL cameras and equipment.  Proficiency in working with social media.
