• Shipping Supervisor, 2nd/3rd Shift

    VT Industries, one of the country's largest family-owned and operated manufacturers of commercial & residential doors and countertop surfaces, is growing.  VT's Rome, GA. facility is seeking an experienced 2nd/3rd Shift Shipping Supervisor with prior shipping and leadership experience in a manufacturing environment. 


    • Supervise, train, and provide leadership to shipping/receiving department employees
    • Follow daily manufacturing work orders giving special attention to various materials & customers
    • Plan and direct all shipping responsibilities daily while ensuring accuracy of orders and shipping documents
    • Understand and achieve internal and external customer targets for product delivery  
    • Notify management of any scheduled shipments that were not completed with explanation for the missed shipment
    • Ensure LTL’s are ready to ship and placed on the line for the truck picking up the shipment
    • Assist in diagramming loads and loading trailers when needed
    • Communicate closely with production and scheduling teams to ensure timely shipment of all product
    • Update daily reports and process PODs after verifying accuracy to close out the day
    • Investigate transit damage to determine root cause and develop solutions to eliminate or reduce the possibility of reoccurrence
    • Communicate inventory needs to laminate department so material can be ordered and stocked in a timely manner
    • Crosstrain team members and provide back-up coverage in the department when necessary
    • Problem solve and identify opportunities for process improvements in shipping
    • Assist HR department in recruiting new team members
    • Help to maintain a work environment that exceeds all applicable standards including a clean and organized area
    • Report any safety issues and resolve if possible
    • Promote and maintain a safe work environment ensuring compliance with all safety policies and procedures
    • Provide coaching, timely feedback and direction to team members holding them accountable for overall performance
    • Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures paying special attention to safety regulations
    • Conduct daily meetings at the start of the shift with the team to review schedules, KPIs and communicate other information/announcements relative to the department and Company
    • Report any concerns or discrepancies to management

    • Minimum 3 years of Shipping and Receiving leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
    • Must be capable of working in a fast-paced environment with minimal direct supervision and possess strong leadership, interpersonal, organizational, and motivational skills
    • Ability to use sound judgement, problem solve effectively and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
    • Ability to communicate, verbally and in writing, in a professional manner and positively influence a diverse range of individuals
    • Strong sense of urgency and attention to detail
    • Proficiency with Windows based applications including Outlook, Word, and Excel
    • Ability to work extended hours and OT as required
