    Job Description

    VT Industries of Georgia manufactures wood products including fine laminate counter tops.  VT uses highly automated processes for building kitchen and bath counter top.  Use shop floor managed principles and technique including team structure, suggestions, workplace organization and standard operating procedures to load truck for safe, damage-free delivery of our product to our customer
    It is a job requirement to be able to do the following:

    MACHINE OPERATOR
    POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
     
    • Set up machines (calibration, cleaning, change overs, etc.)
    • Control and adjust machine settings
    • Inspect with precision and measuring tools
    • Test operation of machine periodically
    • Fix issues that might occur during the shift
    • Maintain activity log
    • Ensure machine is working at full capacity and producing quality product
    • May be placed into job rotation
    • Complete standard work and quality checks
    • Visual check on quality
    • Complete process control sheet
    • Complete 5s checklist
    • Participate in daily production meeting
    • Keep work area clean and organized
    • Use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), ALL EMPLOYEES: Safety glasses, ear plugs  POSITION SPECIFIC: Safety glasses, ear plugs, gloves, orange safety vest
    • Observe all safety policies and procedures at all times
    • Work individually or with team members as assigned
    • Maintain a positive work environment
    • Other duties as assigned by supervisor
     POSITION SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS
    • Proven experience as a machine operator (1-2 years minimum)
    • Working knowledge of diverse machinery and measurement tools (caliper, tape measure)
    • Mechanical and technical skills
    • Understanding of production procedures
    • Ability to read SOP’s and Standard Work
    • Analytical skills
    • Attention to detail
    • Teamwork and communication skills(both verbal and written)
    • Physical stamina and strength
     GENERAL LABOR
    POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Super Line: Available for work 10 hours a day; 4 days per week with occasional mandatory overtime
    • All other production lines:  Available for work 8 hours a day; 5 days per week with occasional mandatory overtime
    • May be placed into job rotation
    • Complete standard work and quality checks
    • Visual check on quality
    • Verify correct back splash height, lean and deck depth
    • Watch scan log to ensure proper run order
    • Remove skids from end of line and bring in correct skids
    • Make customer list for skids needed (# of tops per skid)
    • Make customer tag for each skid
    • Notify laminate puller of any tops to re-run
    • Complete process control sheet
    • Complete 5s checklist
    • Participate in daily production meeting
    • Keep work area clean and organized
    • Use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), ALL EMPLOYEES: Safety glasses, ear plugs  POSITION SPECIFIC: Safety glasses, ear plugs, and gloves
    • Observe all safety policies and procedures at all times

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS
    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Able to successfully pass pre-employment drug screen
    • Receive clearance from medical professional resulting from a post-offer physical
    • Receive satisfactory results on background verification (criminal, personal, and work history)
    • Class A or B unexpired driver’s license
    • Recent Pallet jack and forklift license preferred
