• Maintenance Technicians Needed!

    VT Industries, one of the country's largest family-owned and operated manufacturers of commercial & residential doors and countertop surfaces, is growing. VT's Rome, GA. facility is seeking experienced Maintenance Technicians (1st & 2nd shifts) with a positive attitude and a drive to succeed.

    Responsibilities and Activities:

    • Maintain and repair production equipment
    • Dedicated maintenance position
    • Responsible for preventative maintenance, machine repair, project work, and all other duties as assigned
    • Work individually or with team members maintaining a positive work environment
    • Install, maintain, and repair machinery, equipment, and electrical systems
    • Follow specifications, blueprints, manuals, and schematic drawings using hand tools, power tools, hoist, and measuring and testing instruments
    • Listen for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discuss machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine
    • Dismantle defective machines and equipment and install new or repaired parts
    • Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery, using rags, brushes and grease gun
    • Install and repair electrical apparatus, such as wiring and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment
    • Read and comprehend instructions, correspondence and memos in English
    • Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
    • May repair automated machinery and equipment such as programmable controllers
    • Install and repair electrical systems, apparatus and electrical and electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment using hand tools, power tools, and electrical and electronic test equipment
    • Install power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment 
    • Connect power supply wires to machines and equipment and connects cables and wires between machines and equipment
    • Diagnose malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures, using test equipment and replaces damaged or broken wires and cable, using hand tools
    • Test malfunctioning machinery, using test equipment, and discusses malfunction with other maintenance workers
    • Complete 5S checklist and follow all safety policies and procedures at all times
    • Participate in daily production team meeting          
    • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor

    Skills & Requirements:

    • Must possess strong Technical and leadership skills
    • Must have Electro / Mechanical background
    • Prior experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
    • Knowledge of mechanical & preventative maintenance processes
    • Critical thinking ability to troubleshoot and detect malfunctioning
    • Possess the discipline to execute tasks without procrastination
    • Good time management skills to maintain efficiency, executing word orders and demands
    • Strong leadership skills
    • Ability to handle basic tools
    • Knowledge and execution of safety practices & procedures
    • Ability to work individually or collaborate as a team
    • Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology or degree from 2-year trade school strongly preferred
