• EHS / Safety Specialist

    VT Industries, one of the country's largest family-owned and operated manufacturers of commercial & residential doors and countertop surfaces, is growing.  VT's Rome, GA. facility is seeking an EHS Specialist with prior EHS experience in a manufacturing environment.

    • Develop, implement and oversee EHS Programs, Policies and Procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations including Occupational Safety & Heath Administration (OSHA)
    • Drive and promote zero incident EHS culture throughout site
    • Conduct regular job hazard analyses (JHAs) to identify critical EHS hazards and/or conditions. Recommend preventative/corrective action where EH&S hazards exist
    • Inspect and evaluate machinery and facilities daily to ensure they are in proper working order, in compliance with government safety regulations and industry standards, and free of safety hazards which could endanger employee(s)
    • Investigate and contribute to the resolution of safety Near Misses and incidents and follows up to ensure recommendations and/or measures have been implemented
    • Create and implement training program and training matrix ensuring that all training is defined and tracked to completion; includes new-hire, refresher and OSHA required training
    • Oversee the Company’s Near Miss program; includes identifying resolutions, assigning action items, and ensuring they are resolved on a timely basis
    • Conduct detailed investigation of all EHS-related incidents utilizing continuous improvement tools to drive to root cause and identify actions to prevent recurrence
    • Lead and serve as Safety Committee Meeting Chairperson
    • Develop, implement, and oversee Safety Incentive Programs
    • Support Workers Compensation investigations and return-to-work program in coordination with HR
    • Interact with all departments to assist with EH&S issues
    • Assist CI in creating safety-related standard operating procedures
    • Maintain EH&S logs, training records, compliance documentation, and other EH&S records including SDS’s
    • Prepare applicable EHS reports and/or presentations for management and corporate office as necessary
    • Maintain positive and proactive relations with the leadership team, employees, as well as regulatory agencies
    • Evaluate PPE and ensure proper use and maintenance of PPE
    • Perform additional duties as assigned


    • Minimum 3 years of manufacturing work experience in a EHS role
    • Thorough knowledge of OSHA regulations
    • Demonstrated ability to proactively lead, plan and manage all EHS functions within a manufacturing operation
    • Must be capable of working in a fast-paced environment with minimal direct supervision and have strong demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, organizational, motivational, and self-initiative skills
    • Ability to communicate effectively and influence across a diverse range of people from Corporate /Division leadership to a factory floor associate
    • Proficiency with Windows based applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
    • Bachelor’s Degree in an EHS-related field preferred
