    POSITION TITLE: District Technology Coordinator


    LOCATION: Central Office


    REPORTS TO:  Executive Director of Technology






    TYPE OF EMPLOYEE:  Classified 


    HOURS:  230 days





    Supervises: Technical Support Specialist, Cyber Security Specialist


    Guides, coordinates, and implements the overall technology program for the district, which includes securing and maintaining the internal network infrastructure, hardware peripherals, and operating firmware and software with a customer service-oriented direction. 



    • Bachelor’s Degree in a Technology area of study or equivalent work experience

    • Plus a minimum of three (3) years of experience in Technology support or management


    • Collaborate on the purchase of, maintain, and update hardware and software

    • Perform tasks related to technologies described in Educational and Experience

    • Oversee employees and/or contractors installing and maintaining hardware and software

    • Assist in the development and implementation of training for employees related to technology software and hardware

    • Advise the Executive Director of Technology on technology issues in the procurement of hardware/software 

    • Maintain system backups

    • Critically assess situations to determine appropriate actions and/or solutions

    • Maintains a work schedule that maximizes availability to the schools, staff, and students

    • Organizes support ticketing system and responds in a timely fashion

    • Manage Support Technicians to keep initiatives on track and on time

    • Responsible for for after-hours onsite and remote access support of mission-critical systems

    • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Technology

    Important Job Tasks

    • Prepares written material to document activities, provide written reference and/or convey information

      • Current Systems, Applications, Security, and Server Configurations

      • Effective Technical Support and Guidance

      • Communication with Vendors, District Staff, and Partners

    • Transport equipment and supplies to and from job sites within the school district

    • Perform routine hardware and software maintenance

    • Communicate with staff to provide information and/or direction regarding department activities

    • Attend workshops, conferences, and meetings to convey and/or gather information and stay up-to-date with new and emerging technologies.

    • Coordinate the activities of vendors, contractors, and employees to maintain adequate and efficient project management

    • Maintain content filtering software and hardware

    • Aids in or completes the installation of hardware and software for the network



    • Working knowledge in some or all of the following

      • Layer 3 Networking

      • DNS, DHCP

      • Routing Protocols including but not limited to OSPF and unicast/multicast routing

      • Layer 2 (RSTP, LAG, VLAN, QoS, 802.1q, …)

      • WiFi network hardware. Specifically Alcatel Lucent or Aruba products

      • ACLs, NAT, SSL, VPN

      • Firewall Operating System FortiOS

      • Google Workspace, Google Active Directory Sync, Mail Protocols

      • Google Admin Console

      • Windows: Active Directory, Account Management, Group Policy

      • VMWare: vCenter, vSphere, ESXi, vMotion, vSAN

      • Office 365

      • Lightspeed

    • Security Best Practices Knowledge

    • Relevant Certifications

    • Plus a minimum of five (5) years of experience in Technology support or management


    • Work is performed while standing, sitting, and/or walking

    • Requires the ability to communicate effectively

    • Requires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull objects of 25 pounds or less

    • Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulation

    • Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, and reaching

    • Requires a valid driver’s license and be insurable by Floyd County’s insurance provider

    • Requires 25% local travel (within the Floyd County area)

    • Requires the ability to attend off-site training (outside the Floyd County area)

    • Works in standard office and school building environments.

    • Regularly, reliably and predictably reports to work.
