Human Resource Payroll Specialist Full Time Floyd County Campus
Georgia Northwestern Technical College is seeking qualified applicants for the position of
full time Payroll Specialist to be located on the Floyd County Campus and may be required to work at other campuses to meet operational requirements. This position will report to the Director of Human Resources or Assistant Director of Human Resources. This position is responsible for reviewing and entering payroll data into accounting system and the coordination/management of payroll operations and related transactions. This position will also advise employees and retirees on benefit programs, tax withholding options, payroll-related laws, payment deductions, deferred compensation, employee deduction program, and employee leave records.
Required Qualifications: Associate Degree *and* Three (3) years of payroll or related accounting experience
Note: Experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications: Work experience in the following, including, but not limited to: Entering payroll transactions/data into accounting system; reconciling payroll records; analyzing periodic reports and reconciles contents with other records such as: health insurance, retirement benefits, or related reports, processing payroll void and hand drawn/adjustment requests, processing third-party requests involving employee pay- garnishments, levies, bankruptcies and child support wage assignments, maintaining leave records, advising employees or retirees on benefit programs, tax withholding options, payroll-related laws, payment deductions, deferred compensation, employee deduction program, etc. Auditing of payroll for accuracy and maintaining payroll records based on regulations, unemployment certifications, processing W-2’s, W-4’s or stop payment request; supervising and planning work for assigned staff. Payroll work experience in an education environment.
Salary: $38,000 – $42,000 annually based on work experience. This is a full time twelve month position and is eligible for the State of Georgia Benefit package.
