The purpose of this classification is to perform administrative/clerical work functions associated with providing support to the Public Works Department.
•Maintains inventory of parts, supplies, fuel, oil, and other materials; monitors inventory levels to ensure adequate quantities; conducts periodic physical inventory counts; maintains current inventory records.
•Maintains organization and cleanliness of warehouse/storage areas; organizes inventory items in warehouse to facilitate identification and location of items.
•Maintains fuel inventory and oil inventory; performs fuel management and maintains inventory control using automated fuel system; reviews fuel pump meter readings to monitor inventory levels.
•Issues parts, tools, supplies, orders, or other items at window; fills work orders for parts/supplies from inventory; pulls stock to fill work orders; reviews work orders to ensure accuracy and closes out completed work orders.
•Places orders for parts and other materials.
•Maintains control of department keys.
•Maintains rectifier records for State; reviews rectifier readings and prepares rectifier reports as required by State.
•Maintains vehicle fleet records.
•Operates a computer to enter, retrieve, review or modify data; verifies accuracy of entered data and makes corrections; utilizes automated fuel system, word processing, spreadsheet, database, or other programs.
High school diploma or G.E.D. and one year experience in secretarial work or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
