    JOB SUMMARY: 
    The purpose of this classification is to manage the solid waste operations for Floyd County. Responsibilities include planning, directing and coordinating operations and activities of the Floyd County Convenience Centers and the Rome-Floyd Recycling Center.


    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 
    •Supervises, directs and evaluates assigned staff.
    •Plan, direct, and oversee operations and activities of the department including remote collection sites and the recycling center.
    •Administers and enforces all applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
    •Coordinates efforts to assemble the production requirements for the annual department budget; monitor expenditures for compliance with budget, lead efforts on major purchases.
    •Reviews proposed projects, plans and schedules department projects; monitors status of work in progress and inspects completed work.
    •Coordinates departmental projects and activities with other County departments, contractors, outside agencies, and related parties.
    •Compiles and/or tracks various administrative and/or statistical data pertaining to departmental operations and makes applicable calculations; analyzes trends; prepares or generates reports.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 
    Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Business or a closely related field and five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in solid waste management or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
