• Economic Recovery and Resiliency Planner

    Duties include preparation of an economic development plan focused on disaster recovery and resiliency for Northwest Georgia, with a focus on pandemic recovery.  NWGRC envisions developing a two-part plan.  The short-term economic recovery section of the plan will directly address the economic impacts of the COVID-19 Pandemic.  The long-term resiliency section of the plan will address steps that the region can take to mitigate the long-term economic impacts of the Pandemic and identify measures that can be taken to mitigate the impact of future disasters.  Will work closely with local community leaders and will be expected to travel throughout the region.  Two-year position that will terminate no later than June 30, 2022.

    Knowledge of economic development theories, principles, practices and grant-in-aid assistance is necessary.  Knowledge of computers, interpersonal relationships, and oral/written communications is required.  Qualified applicants, at a minimum, should have a Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Public Policy, Urban Planning or related field from an accredited college or university and one to two years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  A Master's degree in Public Administration, Public Policy or Urban Planning is preferred.  AICP Certification is preferred, but not required.  

    NWGRC provides services to 15 counties and 49 cities in Northwest Georgia, through its office located in Rome, Georgia.  Services are driven by the regional vision:  to improve the quality of life for every Northwest Georgia resident, through orderly growth, conservation of the region's natural and historic resources, and care and development of the region's human resources.  Must be available for daily travel within the 15-county region and limited overnight travel.
