    Job Description
    Shorter University Golf Men’s and Women’s Graduate Assistant
    Location: Rome campus. Shorter University, a NCAA II institution which competes in the Gulf South Conference, invites applications for the position of Golf Men’s and Women’s Graduate Assistant Coach. The program is designed to provide each participant with a holistic and valuable practical experience in the field of Coaching Golf. 
    The placement will involve a number of the following duties & responsibilities:
    Serves as assistant to Head Golf Coach; assists with team practice sessions; coaches team at meets; instructs team members in strategies and techniques; provides assistance in coordination of golf team recruitment activities; aids in the development of team contest schedule; counsels student athletes concerning academic progress; assists in fundraising activities; transports student athletes to practices and meets as necessary; and completes related duties as required.
    Master’s degree options are: MBA, MBA emphasis in Sports Management, or Master of Management (all are online programs of study). In exchange for hours worked for the team, the successful candidate will receive 30 hours of tuition remission for graduate courses only, subject to the Graduate Assistantship Guidelines of the University.  If pre-requisite undergraduate courses are needed, they must be covered by financial aid or applicant’s personal funds.
    GAs are asked to make a minimum 18 to 24-month work commitment to Shorter, depending on the master’s program and hours allowed each semester.  Class hours taken in the summer require a work commitment of at least 5-10 hours per week of class.
    Qualifications: Potential candidates must have a strong desire to pursue a career in coaching Collegiate Golf.
    All candidates must be enrolled for the 2020 Spring Semester (January 2020) and maintain satisfactory progress towards degree completion to maintain the position.
    The candidate must be able to articulate their salvation history clearly and meet the Core Spiritual Requirements listed in the Graduate Assistantship guidelines, which say, among other criteria: “Must regularly attend and be actively engaged in a Bible-believing church.”  
    A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Sports Management, or Education
    Undergraduate degree in Business Administration or Sports Management; 1 – 2 years coaching experience, either coaching or playing golf at the collegiate level is preferred.
