Small Business Action Council

Mission
The Small Business Action Council works to promote all of Rome and Floyd County as the epicenter of Northwest Georgia for retail, service, trade, healthcare, recreation, and cultural opportunities. The Council supports small business through education and communication and is responsible for a variety of initiatives, including the ShopRomeSM Campaign, the annual Business EXPO, and Small Business of the Year award.

Monthly Meetings
The Small Business Action Council typically meets on the second Tuesday of each month.  Most meetings are held from 8:30am until 9:30am in the Chamber boardroom.  All Chamber members are welcome to attend.

Calendar of Events
For the most up-to-date information on member events, the Chamber Calendar located on the homepage provides event descriptions and even registration for upcoming events. You may also refer to the SBAC’s “Tentative Calendar 2009.” Dates, times, and events are subject to change at the discretion of the Small Business Action Council.

Business EXPO
Rome’s annual two-day business EXPO held during the first week of November showcases more than eighty retail and service Chamber members. This two-day event features an exclusive, members-only Business After Hours (the largest networking event of the year) and then an all-day, open-to-the-public exhibition the following day. The event is self-funding, with surplus benefiting the ShopRomeSM Campaign for the following year.

ShopRomeSM Campaign
The ShopRomeSM Campaign is a continuous year-round effort to market Chamber member businesses to local citizens and outlying communities.  Promotions in the past have included media efforts such as direct mailings, radio spots, billboard displays, print media, and electronic media. Efforts encourage the community to “Shop RomeSM” and “Keep Your Dollars at Home.” Keeping our dollars circulating within the community protects our local jobs, bolsters local businesses, attracts new development, and grows our local economy.

Small Business of the Year
The Small Business of the Year Award is presented each January at the chamber Annual Meeting to an outstanding nominee. The award recipient is selected from a pool of nominees for exemplary qualifications in the criteria set by the Small Business Action Council.
