"The success of the ESPLOST will allow us to build a new Coosa High School," said Tim Hensley, Assistant to the Superintendent of the Floyd County Board of Education. "It will also allow us to roll out both major technological and security upgrades across the county!"
The ESPLOST (Education Special Projects Local Option Sales Tax) is a five-year sales tax that authorizes a county tax of 1% on items subject to the state sales tax for funding education projects. It is neither a municipal tax, nor a joint county-municipal tax. ESPLOST funds provide vital items that enhance education and quality of education while not placing a burden on property tax payers. The 2013 ESPLOST will take effect on April 1st and maintain the sales tax at 7%. For more information on the ESPLOST, please visit floydboe.net.
