“We’ve done tennis and athletic facilities,” said Joe Collins, President of Collins Project Management. “We’ve got experience with tennis courts.”Collins said his company’s role is to ensure the right professionals are hired for all stages of the tennis court’s construction. Tom Lawrence, a principal with Collins Project Management, had a broad outline of the project’s timeline.
Mr. Lawrence wants about 70 acres of Berry College property annexed into the city within 90 days. The tennis center will take up about half of that annexed property near the Armuchee Connector.
Mr. Lawrence also hopes to begin the facility’s design and perform its due diligence in three months.
The complete design, picking the construction team and confirming the cost of the project should be done by year’s end, he added.
Construction on the 70-plus court structure should start by early next year, with the project’s completion and first tournament occurring in spring 2016.
