Confluence is a two-day conference of inspiration, technology and motivation for business leaders, manufacturers, technologists, educators, entrepreneurs and students. Confluence promises to provide the latest trends in innovation and technology, as presented by locally-, regionally- and nationally-recognized leaders.
“Confluence is a result of the Chamber’s Rome-Floyd 20/20 Strategic Community and Economic Plan,” explained Greater Rome Chamber of Commerce Chair-Elect and Vice Chair of Membership and Communications John Quinlivan, of Redmond Regional Medical Center. “The Future Industries Initiative implemented this conference to encourage and inspire our local inventors, creators, doers and makers. The program known formerly as Spectrum of Technology and SpecTechRome was re-imagined as Confluence in 2013 to represent the flow and merging of ideas year after year, much like how Rome’s Oostanaula and Etowah rivers flow together and merge to become the mighty Coosa River.” Mr. Quinlivan noted that 2016 Confluence Chairman Steve Devine, of Enived Tech, coined the conference’s name, “Confluence.”
Presentations at Confluence include speakers that have been recognized by multiple national media sources, as well as local and regional innovations and inventors that positively impact our society and inventions that will change the world.
“This year, we have a wonderful lineup of speakers that is sure to motivate and enlighten our audience on a variety of topics,” said Mr. Devine. “I am particularly pleased to announce our keynote speakers: Dr. Robert T. McNally, Sarah Hays Coomer and Cordell Carter, II. With Zika in the news recently, I believe Dr. McNally’s discussion of developments for a vaccine will be of particular interest. Ms. Coomer is sure to motivate us all as she leads us on a discovery of how health, wellness and creativity are interlinked. And as a fellow software developer myself, I believe Mr. Carter’s talk on ‘Coding as the Language of Empowerment in the Digital Age” will really resonate the recent educational developments being made here in Rome and Floyd County as we look toward the future of computer science.”
Tickets can be purchased through the event website at www.confluencerome.org. Sponsorships are also available.
