Rome, GA – The Greater Rome Chamber of Commerce, Floyd County and the City of Rome are pleased to announce Carlsen Precision Manufacturing is locating their first United States operations in the Floyd County Industrial Park on U. S. Highway 27 South.  Carlsen will start operations on five acres and will employ 20 people and invest $5,000,000 over a three year period.

“We are very excited to bring our company to Rome and Floyd County,” said John Larsen, Owner and Chairman of Larsen & Shaw, the parent company of Carlsen.  The company was founded by Mr. Larsen’s grandfather in 1919.

Larsen & Shaw Limited has been a leading Canadian precision manufacturer, specializing in custom and standard continuous hinges, metal stampings and laser cut products and assemblies for over 97 years.

“Rome and Floyd County are proud to bring this family-owned business into our Community family,” said Larry Maxey, Floyd County Commission Chairman.

President and CEO of Larsen & Shaw, Mary Jane Bushell said "The decision to locate in the Rome/Floyd County area is the culmination of several years of investigation, concluding with 10 months of intensive study of various communities in the southeast US. We believe that Rome/Floyd County is the place for us based on costs, infrastructure and location. Part of the infrastructure that interests us is the opportunity to collaborate with the educational institutions in the area and in the state to develop a skilled and engaged workforce.  The obvious commitment to manufacturing in this area and the educational systems to support it has convinced us that this is the right home for the centre of excellence that we intend to build.”

"Larsen & Shaw has always been a company with a long term vision and Carlsen Precision Manufacturing will operate with the same mindset", said John Larson.

“We are fortunate to have this quality business come to our community and employ our people,” said Jamie Doss, the Mayor of Rome.

“As a small business owner, it is very important to us that these primary employers bring these jobs to our community, which means customers for retailers, restaurants and service providers,” said Curtis Gardner, Chairman of the Chamber Board and owner of Sonny’s Real Pit BBQ.
