    Job Description
    VT Industries of Georgia manufactures wood products including fine laminate countertops.  VT uses highly automated processes for building kitchen and bath countertop.  We utilize shop floor managed principles and technique including team structure, suggestions, workplace organization and standard operating procedures to examine tops for correctness to order and process all paperwork to ensure a complete order and accurate inventory.
     
    We are looking for a skilled Machine Operator to set up, maintain and operate machinery.  A great machine operator is reliable and able to work with attention to detail and safety standards.  Position responsibilities and requirements are as follows:
     
    POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Set up machines (calibration, cleaning, change overs, etc.)
    • Control and adjust machine settings
    • Inspect with precision and measuring tools
    • Test operation of machine periodically
    • Fix issues that might occur during the shift
    • Maintain activity log
    • Ensure machine is working at full capacity and producing quality product
    • May be placed into job rotation
    • Complete standard work and quality checks
    • Visual check on quality
    • Complete process control sheet
    • Complete 5s checklist
    • Participate in daily production meeting
    • Keep work area clean and organized
    • Use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), ALL EMPLOYEES: Safety glasses, ear plugs  POSITION SPECIFIC: Safety glasses, ear plugs, gloves, orange safety vest
    • Observe all safety policies and procedures at all times
    • Work individually or with team members as assigned
    • Maintain a positive work environment
    • Other duties as assigned by supervisor
     
    POSITION SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS
    • Proven experience as a machine operator (1-2 years minimum)
    • Working knowledge of diverse machinery and measurement tools (caliper, tape measure)
    • Mechanical and technical skills
    • Understanding of production procedures
    • Ability to read SOP’s and Standard Work
    • Analytical skills
    • Attention to detail
    • Teamwork and communication skills(both verbal and written)
    • Physical stamina and strength
    • Able to successfully pass pre-employment drug screen
    • Receive clearance from medical professional resulting from a post-offer physical
    • Receive satisfactory results on background verification (criminal, personal, and work history)
