    Job Description
    Reinhardt University is seeking a Simulation Faculty member for the School of Nursing. The positon is full-time to begin in the Fall of 2017.  This position reports to the Dean of the School of Nursing.
    Responsibilities & Duties:
    • Develops, implements, updates, and monitors simulation lab policies, procedures, use, and operation
    • Monitors and schedules use, signing out, and movement of simulation lab equipment
    • Develops, presents, evaluates and refines scenarios for simulation experiences, utilizing role playing, props and dialogue to create a realistic learning environment
    • Develops and implements clinical simulation to meet accreditation standards
    • Creates and maintains a respectful and professional working environment, incorporating active learning, reflective thinking, and a confidential debriefing process
    • Performs data analysis to evaluate learning and satisfaction with the provision of services
    • Continuously updates and refines simulation experiences based on identified needs and to serve as a resource for faculty utilizing simulation in classroom/lab activities
    • Maintains the lab inventory, ensures the safe storage and disposal of hazardous materials
    • Monitors and assures appropriate standards of lab cleanliness, provides for equipment maintenance, repair, and replacement
    • Orients instructors in lab procedures, location and use of materials, and operation of equipment
    • Assist the Dean in business development of the simulation lab, establishes community partners, develops income generated projects, seeks grants and other funding sources
    • Oversees simulation lab information and technology support
    • Assist the Dean in the Formulation of budget recommendations for the Simulation lab.
    • Ensures a safe and healthy work environment, complies with college health and safety policies, practices, and programs in keeping with occupational health & safety legislation and regulation
    • Models professional standards, including customer service, collaboration, communication, excellence, attendance, and related
    • Performs remediation with students in skills area
    • Works closely with college staff to appropriately integrate lab operations, obtain maximum utilization for the most efficient expenditure, and to moderate student costs
    • Any other duties as may be appropriately assigned or required
    ATTENDANCE – The individual in this position is expected to be generally present and available throughout the year during the normal business hours of the college, and may occasionally have work obligations outside of the college’s normal business hours. Required to participate in School of Nursing meetings and committees as well as University events, activities, meetings and committees.
    WORKING CONDITIONS– Conditions are those of a typical office and classroom environment, requiring frequent oral and written communication with college employees, students, and vendors, the presentation of information on-line and in face-to-face settings, and the ability to enter data and written communications in electronic format in a timely manner. The ability to be generally and continuously aware of the safe and appropriate operation of the lab equipment and material is essential.

    • PhD or DNP preferred, Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN)
    • Current State of Georgia Nurse License
    • One to three years of experience in simulation and skills lab teaching, or combination of education and experience commensurate with the requirements of the position
    • Recent medical-surgical experience
    • Ability to prepare and organize simulation laboratory and demonstration materials
    • Ability to understand and utilize advanced technical simlab equipment, and communicate that knowledge to others as appropriate
    • Ability to anticipate and effectively adapt to changes in program requirements and methodology
    • Ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body
