In addition to office building locations and available industrial parks, this community offers incentives to encourage businesses to locate and expand in Rome and Floyd County.  City of Rome and Floyd County officials are keenly interested in assisting positive growth for employment in the community for existing and new employers.  Through the Rome-Floyd County Development Authority, a mutually beneficial plan is available for employers and the community.

These incentives are offered to existing and potential new businesses by the Rome-Floyd County Development Authority.  Under the Payment in Lieu of Tax Program, the Authority can help offset a prospective employer’s local property taxes.  Actual benefits to the company and community are determined based on capital investment, job creation, wages paid and benefits offered to employees.  Another program to attract new industry is the Freeport Tax Exemption.  With this exemption, manufacturers pay no inventory tax on raw materials, material in progress or finished products.

The state of Georgia also offers substantial incentive programs.  With the Georgia Job Tax Credit program, new or expanding companies can receive credits against their state income tax.  Credits can offset up to 50% of the company’s annual income tax liability for a period of five years.  Other programs include Industrial Revenue Bond financing, the Quick Start program for training, Georgia Department of Labor screening, and additional tax credits including the Retraining Tax Credit and Child Care Tax Credit.
