The mission of the Northwest Georgia Regional Cancer Coalition is to reduce the number of cancer deaths and the mortality rate from cancer in Northwest Georgia. This mission is accomplished through several goals, including: 1) Prevent cancer and detect existing cancers earlier.The initiative works to reduce the number of cancer deaths through a focused education and screening effort. 2) Improve access to quality care for all NW Georgians with cancer.The NWGRCC wants to ensure that basic cancer care is available close to home anywhere in the state. More advances treatment will be available at medical centers in regional service areas, enabling NW Georgians to get quality medical care and participate in clinical trials without leaving the state. 3) Save more lives in the future.Through work with medical schools and community oncologists, a mechanism will be put in place to extend and coordinate clinical trials. 4) Train future cancer researchers and caregivers.The NWGRCC supports using nationally recognized standards for training of future cancer clinicians and development of new training programs for cancer caregivers. 5) Realize economic benefits from eradicating cancer.Investment in research, expanded capacity and partnerships with pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies will provide quality jobs to NW Georgians and environmentally clean additions to the economy. Private funding will help support research and launch new developments with commercial potential.

Clinical trials in Rome, Georgia are completed in partnership with Redmond Regional Medical Center and the Harbin Clinic. Trials include over six years of clinical research experience in indications including: Coronary Artery Syndrome, Acute MI, Coronary Artery Lesions, Vein Grafts, and Percutaneous Coronary Interventions. There are seven primary investigators who serve as sub-investigators on each other’s trials. The practice is capable of performing: nuclear scans, EKGs, echocardiograms, vascular ultrasounds, Venous Doppler, treadmill studies, pacemaker/ICD evaluations Experience in Percutaneous Coronary Interventional clinical trials and EP trials. There are approximately 1,000 new patients seen per year. Demographics are 86% Caucasian, 11% African American, and 1.3% Hispanic.
