Tennis lovers will be delighted to know that Rome was named one of Tennis Magazine's Top 10 Tennis Cities in America, with a multitude of both lighted and unlighted courts in the area. The Rome-Floyd Tennis Center was chosen as the facility of the year by USTA and it is the headquarters for the Coosa Valley Tennis Association. Many USTA leagues and GTA and STA tournaments are held at the center.
Golfers, too, have several options among local public and private courses, one of which was named by Golf Digest as one of the top 20 courses in Georgia.
Rome is also home to the minor league baseball team, the Rome Braves. Atlanta Braves players Brian McCann, Jeff Francoeur and Yunel Escobar have all called Rome home. The local ball club, built in 2003, is the Class A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves. The team competes in the South Atlantic League and playes a 140-game schedule each season. State Mutual Stadium often plays host to a packed house, as Rome fans revel in the chance to watch the next collection of future Atlanta Braves take flight.

Another valuable venue in Rome is the Etowah Senior Center. This Active Senior Adult Recreation Center, located in Etowah Park, is always buzzing with activity. This Center is designed to serve those 55 and over with recreational, instructional, and enrichment activities and events.
Amenities include a larger multi-purpose room, meeting rooms, billiards room, and full service kitchen.
The Center is also available for rentals and is an excellent location for Club and organizational meetings, socials, banquets and receptions.
